Please click this button to see an example of one of many ways I plan on including literacy in my teaching practice. I believe this shows how I will utilize the literacy skills I have learned throughout my education within the classroom. I believe literacy can be used in all areas of the curriculum and should be seen outside of just "Language Arts" classes.

Please click this button to see what I believe to be my best lesson plan from PSI. This lesson is a two part lesson, in the first lesson I worked with the students to set goals. We discussed the importance of setting goals and how to set goals that are specific and achievable. As a group we came up with plenty of examples both good goals and goals that could be improved. The students then had about 20 minutes to fill in their goal sheet. About 2 weeks later we came back to our goals. I created a graphic for S.M.A.R.T goals and for peer editing using C.U.P.S. We talked as a group about what each of these things meant and the importance and role of good peer editing. We discussed how to edit our goals so they are each S.M.A.R.T goals and how we can be good peer editors and help ensure our partners goals are S.M.A.R.T as well. I believe this is the best lesson I planned because not only did it help students set goals and reach some of their SLO's for Health and Life Skills, we also worked on some of their writing skills. By coming back to the same lesson after two weeks it reinforced the ideas we had been working on and expanded their knowledge. This also was a great way to introduce the peer editing to the students and it will be something my Teacher Associate continues after I am gone. Overall both lessons went really well and that was reflected in the students initial work and the improvements made in the second lesson.

Please click the button above to see an Art lesson from my PSI. During my time in my PSI practicum I facilitated a few art lessons, one of the lessons I found the most successful and engaging for the students was a lesson that simulated the concept of embossing using string and tin foil. The students then worked with line and colour to finish their compositions. These students were in grades 4 and 5.
